Parkinsons - and Music
Join Martin as a Co-Presenter> CLICK FOR VIDEO
SWINDON 105.5 is all about communication and focussing on what you CAN DO not what you can’t, as well as developing those skills you didn’t know you had!
Martin was diagnosed with Parkinsons four years ago. He has presented his weekly Brass Band music programme for 16 years, since the Station launched. His passion for producing and presenting “A Touch Of Brass” has considerably helped him since the diagnosis. He says “This means so much to me to be able to continue with my show” . He now records his programmes rather than broadcast live – and is seeking a Co-Presenter to join him. A Touch Of Brass is broadcast at 6pm Sunday evenings.
Graham now co-presents Sunday morning’s Kaleidescope, 12am-midday, using his knowledge of music. He visited the studios for an interview with Station Manager Shirley Ludford, asked about training, then joined her on Sunday mornings. She says “Graham did so well, I matched him with newly trained Presenter Darren Moore and gave them my show! They get on famously.” Graham says “It’s marvellous. I never thought I would be doing this – at my age and with Parkinsons, but I love it and it shows what can be done if you really want to. I cant’ thank Shirley enough. I encourage anyone who’d like to get involved to give the Station a call”.
